This flower is from the Celosia family, sometimes referred to as cockscombs or coxcombs. There are many varieties, some growing to heights of 6 feet, some as small as 6 inches. Most Celosia produce a feathery plume, while the coxcomb varieties produce a comb-like feathery flower.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I love all your pictures, they are really wonderful! I stopped by thru entrecard and I usually just drop and leave on most sites, but I stayed to look at your site. Thanks.
