And here comes Dahlia in Red...

From the technical viewpoint not a perfect bloom while the wind was tugging at the petals or some insects thought this to be a nice little meal but nevertheless a radiant flower...

and look - there are flowers within the flower...

"Dahlia" (Asteraceae)
Dahlien

Thanks to Elle this is NOT a Dahlia but "Zinnia" - belongs to the same family

Your site seriously has to be the most beautiful photography site I've been to. I'm a beginning DSLR user and I'd be real interested to know what you used to take these photos, do you use a macro lense?

Thanks again for posting these incredible photos, I love coming here to view what you've put up.

Hi deb - thanks for your sweet comments. I am using a Finepix s9500 - this is a so-called prosumer camera and not a DSLR. There is an inbuilt macro in this camera which I am using very often. Real macro lenses can show even more detail - I wished I had one of those but currently
I am very happy with this camera which has a magnificent value for money. Before that I have worked with an analog SLR for many years. But the costs of film and development was a big downturn!

Kim - thank you. I found it somehow sweet - that rather scattered little bloom and then that tiny little wreath - as if the flower wanted to say "I am beautiful despite my scars..." - wouldn't this make a wonderful metaphor?
