This is a wildflower you probably know also - field scabious. In Germany it is also called "Witwenblume" which is translated "widowflower". I wonder how this flower got to this name?
The nectar from the flowers attracts numerous insects including bees and many species of butterflies, making it a valuable as well as an attractive plant for the wildlife garden.
